The Trooper Inn
The Trooper Inn is a family-run village pub just steps from the bell tents at Starlight Glamping. Dating back to the 17th century, it serves freshly prepared food, real ales and West Country cider in a relaxed countryside setting.
Popular with locals and visitors alike, The Trooper Inn is at the heart of village life in Stourton Caundle.
There is a beautiful courtyard to the rear of the pub and a beer garden to the side, as well as seating to the front where you can watch the world go by – tractors, dog-walkers and may be a car.
Whether you’re joining us for a meal, a drink or one of the pub’s popular events, The Trooper Inn is an important part of the Starlight Glamping experience.

“The Trooper’s Sunday Roast is absolutely superb! It was beyond fault, both for quality and presentation, and we were very pleasantly surprised by the intimacy and cosiness of this little pub – a rare gem indeed! It is quite small inside (although there is outdoor dining for those who prefer that). Thus, there isn’t the type of Sunday Roast ‘pick & mix’ buffet one is accumstomed to in many pubs; the main course is ‘plated up’ and served complete at one’s table, but it is none the worse for that. To say that the portions are gargantuan is an understatement, well presented and cooked to perfection. No inedible al dente vegetables at The Trooper!” Hugh. March 2025.

Breakfast Bap Run
ccomplementary breakfast baps can be delivered to the door of your Bell Tent at 9.30am.
The freshly-prepared Baps need to be pre-ordered the day before and you can choose from:
Bacon, Sausage or Veggie Sausage Baps.
There is a tea and coffee den at the bottom of the pub garden which will be open for complimentary teas and coffees all day on a self service basis.
